Introductions

 Hello world, my name is Shadrach. I am a pretty stellar person. I love to spend time outside doing crazy things like running, mountain biking, rock climbing, or sitting on the ground and thinking. I have spent most of my life in Juneau, AK, but have also lived many other places in the US like Missouri, Iowa, Texas, and Connecticut. I have recently gotten into watching the TV show Dragon Ball Z, it's pretty comical, and a lot of fun, here's a picture from that (the Dragon Ball Z soundtrack is actually pretty hype).


Other than that I have always loved jamming out to music, and am really excited about this class. In high school, I played trumpet, baritone, and slide trombone. And while I was in both the concert band and jazz band, I loved the jazz band the most. I really like ska music currently, and I think that my jazz band days had a big influence on that. Other than high school band though, I have not played many instruments, I just love to vibe. My top genres are Christian rap, indie pop, and ska.

    That's so cool you got to play in a jazz band! I never got to be a part of something like that till after high school, and even then it wasn't jazz, it was orchestra. I hope to eventually learn a jazz instrument so that I can be in a jazz band. What fun that would be!

    I love to watch Dragon Ball Z and a lot of other animes. I was in choir till I was done with high school, but I stopped playing in the band in middle school. I can't wait to learn more about your thoughts on music.

Musical Analysis of I'll Keep On

  I'll Keep On - NF          This song is absolutely beautiful to me. Written by Nathan Feuerstein in 2015, and released in America, it was a part of the album Mansion that got Number 62 on the Billboard 200. The best part of the song in my opinion is actually how the melody gets more and more complicated in a way, going from conjunct to disjunct, it starts as something someone could sing pretty easily, but then transitions into something relatively difficult to sing or play. The song also transitions from singing solo to utilizing multiple singers and creating chords, in a way the piano plays chords in the background too, creating a wonderful wall of sound. This sort of building could also be described as the song transitioning from a monophonic texture to a homophobic texture, or from single note usage to multiple note usage.
